Base Materials Shortlisted for Two Awards In The Composites UK Industry Awards 2026

We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories in the Composites UK Industry Awards for 2026! 

The annual composites industry awards showcase outstanding achievements from across the sector, recognising everything from groundbreaking technologies and innovative design to sustainability initiatives and individual excellence.

Being shortlisted in two highly competitive categories reflects our commitment to both sustainable innovation and the development of advanced composite manufacturing technologies.
The awards will be presented at the Industry Awards Dinner on 4 November 2026, running in parallel with Advanced Engineering.

Sustainability: Net-Zero Award

Our shortlisted entry recognises the work we have undertaken to embed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into our materials development and sustainability strategy. Using a bespoke LCA tool, we can calculate the cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of our composite tooling materials, buoyancy materials and ancillary products using real manufacturing, formulation, energy and supply chain data.

This capability enables us to make evidence-based decisions about material selection, manufacturing processes and product development, while helping customers better understand and manage their own Scope 3 emissions. Insights from our LCA programme have already influenced product development, with 96% of our tooling board range now incorporating bio-based raw materials as standard.

The award recognises organisations demonstrating measurable progress towards decarbonisation, and we are proud that our data-driven approach to sustainability has been recognised among the industry's leading initiatives.

 

Innovation in Composite Materials

Our second shortlisted entry celebrates the development of our large-format 3D printing solution for composite tooling, combining our proprietary ProXtrude® thermoset printable paste system with advanced robotic extrusion technology and a fully digital CAD-to-print workflow.

Purpose-developed for composite tooling applications, the system enables the production of near-net-shape stock models directly from CAD data, significantly reducing material waste and lead times compared with traditional tooling manufacture. The technology delivers the structural strength, thermal stability, dimensional accuracy and machinability required for demanding tooling applications across sectors including automotive, foundry and advanced manufacturing.
By combining innovative materials development with advanced manufacturing techniques, the project demonstrates how new technologies can help make tooling production faster, more efficient and more responsive to changing industry requirements.
