We are carbon neutral!
As part of our efforts to reduce our impact on the environment, we’ve offset our emissions for FY24/25 and created a carbon reduction plan that details our commitment to becoming Carbon Neutral, achieving Net Zero emissions in line with government targets, and a pathway to get us there.
Why? Because it’s the right thing to do.
We didn’t want to wait to reduce our emissions; we wanted to make a climate-positive impact, now. We’re committed to building a sustainable business and reducing our impact on the environment.
What's next?
We're committed to driving sustainable change - prioritising environmental responsibility, strengthening social impact and ensuring strong governance. We've created an ESG strategy to align our activities and underpin them with clear KPIs.
We will calculate our carbon emissions for FY25/26 using the GHG protocols to calculate our most recent carbon footprint.
In the future, we hope to implement further measures such as:
- Improving measurement of our scope 3 data to enable us to better understand our carbon
footprint and target carbon reduction activities. - Maintain accreditation to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System ensuring full
coverage of our operations. - Reduce waste to landfill by prioritising segregation and treatment routed that maximise
recycling and recovery. - Procuring renewable energy, transitioning to green tariffs in pursuit of sourcing a higher
percentage of renewable energy. - Develop sustainable procurement policies to include sustainability criteria in supplier selection
and prioritising lower-carbon options. - Establish a formal sustainable travel policy to guide employee decision-making to select the
lowest-carbon option. - Aim to become carbon neutral verified by the end of FY 2028 through carbon reduction
activities and carbon offsetting.
United Nations Carbon Offsetting Project - Potrero Hydropower Plant, Peru
The Potrero Hydropower Project, in the Cajamarca region of Peru, generates renewable electricity by harnessing the flow of the Crisnejas River. With an installed capacity of 20 MW, the plant supplies clean power to the National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN), displacing fossil fuel-based generation.
As a run-of-river facility, Potrero Hydro Plant operates without a reservoir, minimizing environmental impacts while delivering reliable renewable energy. The Potrero Hydropower Project prevents nearly 100,000 tons of CO₂ emissions every year.
